Raffles International School is committed to the emotional, physical and social well-being of every student. Our aim is for every student to thrive, be safe, be happy and reach their true potential, to be a part of our school community and to be valued for who they are as an individual. The pastoral care system is designed so that students are supported in all aspects of school life so that they achieve their individual potential as well as being prepared for the life beyond school.

RIS staff work effectively with parents to nurture young adults who can enter the world ready to make a difference, feeling confident in themselves and their abilities.

RISE (Raffles International School Extends)

Raffles International School has an ethos which promotes the inclusion of all students. We are committed to removing as many barriers to learning as we can, to encourage each student to achieve and feel valued. RISE recognises that this also includes students who are gifted and talented, have English as an additional language as well as those for whom learning can present challenges.

The RISE team works with all stakeholders; students, parents, teaching staff and where applicable outside agencies to ensure that all students reach their true potential. We provide in-class support alongside teaching staff as well as small group withdrawal in the RISE hubs to ensure that our students’ needs are met.

Raffles International School welcomes students of determination and ensures that students are not refused admission based only on their experience of SEND

EAL

RIS welcomes English as an Additional Language (EAL) students, including those with little or no English to our school. Fluency in English is not a requirement for entry up to and including Year 9 and we will support learners to develop their language skills after they join the school. EAL applications to join examination courses (iGCSE and A Level) will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Counselling

Our school offers counselling services to help our students succeed in their academic goals, as well as support social and emotional growth throughout the school year.  Counselling sessions in a school setting are typically short-term in nature, and focus on solutions to help students succeed in all areas of their development.

Counselling activities can include individual or group counselling, whole class presentations, observations, and interventions.
