Sport in action

International Day

Primary School Sports Day

Message from the Head of Sports

At RIS sport plays a key role in both lesson time and extra-curricular activities. This year the PE team has expanded and broadened its provision in an effort to provide a fun and varied program of safe and engaging sports through which our students learn valuable life skills. From basketball to swimming, gymnastics to rugby, our children are challenged and encouraged to work collaboratively and reflectively. During lessons and extra-curricular sessions students build not only personal fitness, but also communication, observation and coaching skills, working in pairs or small groups to share ideas and improve performance. All PE lessons are led by highly experienced and qualified PE professionals, who share a passion for sport and a love of teaching.

In addition to lessons, students have a wide range of teams they can join. From Primary through to U16, RIS competes throughout the year in DASSA, Innoventures leagues, cups, tournaments and friendly fixtures. Sessions run before school, during lunch breaks and after school every day to maximize quantity and quality of sports provision. External sports coaches offer additional opportunity for our students to follow their sporting aspirations, providing instruction in activities such as karate, basketball and dance.
